RAT TALK

Prog meets anarcho-syndicalism

Formed in Trondheim amid a whirlwind of musical obsessions and a shared instinct for shaping coherence out of wildly diverse influences, Rat Talk is an explosive collaboration between four highly active and distinctive young musicians.

In 2023, Rat Talk released their debut album The World and the Bailiffs last year. The title is inspired by Jens Bjørneboe’s novel Kruttårnet - La poudriére, in which a court officer reflects on how the presence of daily justice—or rather daily injustice—has brought order and meaning to the land Chaos, gradually making reality more comprehensible.

Rat Talk creates music that is intense, lyrical, noisy, catchy, and complex all at once. Drawing inspiration from artists such as King Crimson, Yes, Black Sabbath, and Elephant9, the band operates within a progressive rock tradition while constantly pushing beyond genre boundaries. The result is a sound that appeals equally to dedicated music nerds and curious newcomers.
