Petter Dalane (b. 1994) is a Norwegian pianist, composer, bandleader and educator living in Oslo, and the 2023 recipient of the NTNU Ambassador award.

In addition to his own group, the Petter Dalane Quintet, he is the founder and musical director for Cosmic Swing Orchestra, one of Norway’s finest jazz ensembles known for their mix of music, political satire and performance art. With both bands, he has released multiple albums with original music and toured extensively in Norway and Europe.

Since 2017 he has hosted the jam session series Petters Jazzjam regularly, appearing in total over 80 times at various clubs and festivals throughout Norway with prominent guests like John Pål Inderberg, Knut Riisnes, Eirik Hegdal, Atle Nymo, Sun Mi Hong, Håkon Mjåset Johansen, Ingebrigt Håker-Flaten, Sissel Vera Pettersen and Hildegunn Øiseth.

Dalane is also a founding member of the rock band Rat Talk, where he plays the Hammond Organ and contributes as a composer.

From 2017 to 2022 Dalane studied at the Jazz Program at NTNU, Trondheim. From 2016 to 2018 he frequently attended workshops held by bebop pianist and educator Barry Harris (1929-2021).
