The Petter Dalane Quintet is modern bebop band fuzing an deep-seated interest in tradition with eagerness to play and experiment. The band was formed in 2022.
In April 2024 we released our debut album “Quintet”, to great reviews, Ballade calling it a “ Norwegian modern jazz classic”. In May 2025, we followed up with our second release, Sikksakk. Both albums featuring cover art by the renowned Norwegian painter Oddvar Torsheim.
Our repertoire primarily consists of my original compositions, with a few exceptions, such as Béla Bartók’s piano piece Bagatelle II arranged for the quintet. While our sound and style clearly draws a lot of influence from the 50’s and 60’s we approach our music without prejudice with a sense of risk and anarchy.

A brilliant way to honor the tradition while also taking it further in a personal way
